Sue has been singing praise songs to YHWH since 1985! Also, many of Suesongs' modern country songs have been published and sung by major artists in Canadian and American Country, including: "I Can't Shake Loose," recorded by Jenny Lee West on her Roto Noto CD "Braving The Elements," copyright 1990. This Top 40 Hit charted for over 5 months in Canadian Country! "Believe Again," recorded by R. Harlan Smith and "I Don't Miss Often," recorded by Tanya Marie, both charted in Canadian Country, and "I Don't Miss Often" was a worldwide Hit!
I'm currently featuring my CD, "Red Bird Sings Back In The Good Ol' Days," recorded between 1976 and 1980. It is the music of Patti Jo Turner Gathof and Sue Rodgers Souvie, the core of Red Bird. The songs in this album were recorded 30 years ago by friends of Red Bird. These songs are not studio quality or professionally mixed and may contain flaws and mistakes common in live performances and in electronic equipment available in the 1970's. You may buy the CD for $10.00 plus $2.00 shipping (US & Canada only) by emailing me (address below). This album is available for download at itunes, Napster and Rhapsody. As with all music, you may download individual songs without purchasing the entire album.

I have been writing songs since I first picked up a guitar at age 15. In my twenties, songwriting became my passion and during this time, around my mid-twenties, I began singing and playing guitar as a solo act in restaurants. Later on, in 1976, I met a young lady named Patti and we formed Red Bird Band, actually a duo. To read all about Patti and Red Bird click here. Patti and I drifted apart during the 1980’s and that’s when I turned my attention to perfecting my craft of songwriting. I focused on making my songs more commercial and in my early-to-mid thirties I formed another partnership, this time with a lyricist named Ben van den Hoogenband from Toronto, Canada. Ben not only wrote very commercial lyrics, but he was also excellent at promoting our material to record companies and artists. With Ben’s help, my career began to fly! By 1990, we had a hit in Canadian Country with artist Jenny Lee West singing our song, “I Can’t Shake Loose!”
After that, we had several others, including “The List of Broken Hearts,” recorded by Diane Raeside, and “I Don’t Miss Often,” recorded in Nashville by a young country singer named Tanya Marie. Eventually, Ben & I went our separate ways and I began concentrating on writing and performing Messianic music. Even my songs praising the Creator have a commercial bent to them in structure and phrasing. I hope to have many of these songs up on the site soon.
